Polyethylene Wax Price per Ton — Flake, Pastille, Powder & Oxidized PE Wax

Bulk polyethylene wax price is quoted per metric ton against a written specification, not against a published index. As of August 2026, indicative FCA export levels run $990 – $1,100 per MT for standard PE wax flake and $2,300 – $2,600 per MT for oxidized PE wax. What you actually pay is built from grade, physical form, molecular weight, drop point, acid value, order quantity, packing, destination port and Incoterm — an oxidized polyethylene wax at a defined acid value will never price like a standard PE wax flake.

How much does polyethylene wax cost per ton in 2026?

Polyethylene wax costs $990 – $1,100 per metric ton FCA for standard PE wax flake and $2,300 – $2,600 per metric ton FCA for oxidized PE wax, on indicative export levels ex UAE and Türkiye as of . PE wax pastille and powder sit at $1,000 – $1,200 per MT. Divide by 1,000 for the per-kilogram equivalent. Because "PE wax" covers everything from a broad-spec cracked wax to a narrow-window oxidized grade, the same tonnage can price very differently on specification alone.

A polyethylene wax quotation is assembled from four blocks:

  • Grade & chemistry: standard PE wax, or oxidized PE wax at a defined acid value in mg KOH/g.
  • Physical form: flake, pastille or powder — powder carries a micronising cost that flake does not.
  • Specification: molecular weight, drop point, viscosity at 140 °C, density and penetration.
  • Commercial terms: origin, order volume (FCL or LCL), packing, destination port, Incoterm and payment terms.

Important: these are FCA prices

All prices shown above are FCA (Free Carrier) at our loading point in the UAE or Türkiye. An FCA price covers the product delivered to that warehouse or loading facility — it excludes ocean freight, marine insurance, destination handling and import duty.

For CFR (Cost and Freight), CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight), CPT (Carriage Paid To) or any other Incoterm, contact the sales desk with your destination port. We calculate the landed cost including ocean freight, insurance and applicable charges.

Indicative band vs. a contractable quotation

An indicative band, like the ranges above, tells you roughly where the market sits. It is attached to no single specification, tonnage or delivery term, so it cannot be contracted against or used to open a Letter of Credit.

A contractable quotation is one number, for one grade at one tonnage, to a named destination on a named Incoterm, valid for a stated period, backed by a technical data sheet and a certificate of analysis. Only the second can be used to build a landed cost.

The spread between a broad-specification PE wax flake and a narrow-window oxidized grade is wide enough that a single headline figure would misinform buyers. Send the specification and receive the real number.

Unit conversion

Polyethylene wax price per kg, per bag and per container

Export business is priced per metric ton. Buyers costing a formulation usually need per-kilogram, and buyers costing an import usually need per-container. Both are conversions of the same FCA band: 1 MT = 1,000 kg = 40 bags of 25 kg, and one 20ft FCL loads approximately 18 MT.

Indicative FCA polyethylene wax price converted to price per kilogram, per 25 kg bag and per 20ft full container load of 18 metric tons
Product USD / MT (FCA) USD / kg USD / 25 kg bag USD / 20ft FCL (18 MT)
PE Wax Flake $990 – $1,100 $0.99 – $1.10 $24.75 – $27.50 $17,820 – $19,800
PE Wax Pastille $1,000 – $1,200 $1.00 – $1.20 $25.00 – $30.00 $18,000 – $21,600
PE Wax Powder $1,000 – $1,200 $1.00 – $1.20 $25.00 – $30.00 $18,000 – $21,600
Oxidized PE Wax $2,300 – $2,600 $2.30 – $2.60 $57.50 – $65.00 $41,400 – $46,800
Reading the container column: the FCL figures are goods value on FCA terms only. They exclude ocean freight, marine insurance, destination terminal handling, customs duty and inland delivery — which is exactly the gap an FCA quotation and a CIF quotation are built to describe. A 40ft FCL typically loads 25 MT, so multiply the per-ton band by 25 for that comparison.
Technical data

Polyethylene wax specifications — what the price is quoted against

What affects polyethylene wax prices

There is no fixed formula. These variables interact, and their relative weight changes with the grade — feedstock dominates a commodity flake, while process control dominates a narrow-specification oxidized grade.

Raw material & production

  • Crude oil market: sets the floor under the whole petrochemical chain
  • Ethylene and feedstock cost: the direct input for polymerised waxes
  • Production route: direct polymerisation, thermal cracking and polymer modification carry different cost bases
  • Production origin: regional energy cost, plant scale and local demand all feed the offer level

Technical specification

  • Molecular weight: drives hardness, viscosity and cost
  • Drop point: higher-melting waxes generally price above soft grades
  • Viscosity: the parameter most application specifications are written around
  • Density: separates high-density from low-density waxes
  • Purity, colour and volatiles: a white, low-volatile wax is worth more than an off-colour one
  • Acid value: for oxidized grades, the window itself is a direct cost driver

Form & packing

  • Physical form: flake is cheapest to produce, pastille adds a forming step, powder adds a milling step
  • Packing: 25 kg bags, lined bags, cartons and jumbo bags each cost differently per ton
  • Specification tightness: a narrow window means more retained lots and more rejects

Commercial & logistics

  • Order volume: 20ft/40ft FCL and contracted annual volume price below LCL part loads
  • Freight: ocean freight and inland haulage to the load port
  • Destination: port, transit time and local handling cost
  • Incoterm: FCA, CFR, CIF and CPT move different cost blocks between buyer and seller
  • Documentation: SGS inspection, certificate of origin and specific COA requirements
Comparison

Polyethylene wax price vs other industrial waxes

Buyers comparing quotations often have a paraffin or PP wax offer on the desk at the same time. They are not interchangeable, and the price gap reflects performance, not margin.

Polyethylene wax compared with paraffin wax, polypropylene wax and Fischer-Tropsch wax by origin, typical use and relative price
Wax type Origin Typical drop point Where it is specified Relative price level
Polyethylene wax Low molecular weight polyethylene ~100–125 °C PVC lubrication, masterbatch, inks, coatings, adhesives Reference: $990 – $1,200 / MT
Oxidized polyethylene wax PE wax, controlled oxidation ~103–109 °C Polar systems, wax emulsions, pigment dispersion Roughly 2.3× standard PE wax
Paraffin wax Refinery slack wax, de-oiled ~50–70 °C Candles, packaging, board coating, rubber Below PE wax
Polypropylene (PP) wax Low molecular weight polypropylene ~140–160 °C High-temperature masterbatch and compounding Around or above PE wax
Fischer-Tropsch wax Gas-to-liquid synthesis ~90–115 °C Hot-melt adhesives, high-purity applications Above PE wax

Relative levels describe typical market positioning, not a quotation. If you are cross-shopping PE wax against paraffin or PP wax for a PVC formulation, send the target formulation and both offers can be priced side by side.

Price basis

How the bands on this page are compiled

Stated plainly, so a buyer can judge how much weight to put on the figures before an offer is issued.

What the numbers are

  • Source: working offer levels from the production sources we buy from in the UAE, Türkiye and Asia
  • Basis: FCA loading point, USD per metric ton, standard 25 kg bagged packing
  • Volume assumed: full container load, 1×20ft (approx. 18 MT)
  • Review cycle: reviewed monthly and whenever feedstock or freight moves sharply

What they exclude

  • Ocean freight and inland delivery beyond the loading point
  • Marine insurance, destination terminal handling and demurrage
  • Import duty, VAT and customs clearance in the destination country
  • Third-party inspection (SGS or equivalent) when requested

Why an offer can land outside the band

  • Tight specification windows on drop point, viscosity or acid value
  • Non-standard packing — lined bags, cartons, palletised or jumbo
  • LCL or part-load quantities, where fixed cost is spread over less tonnage
  • Fast shipment windows against limited available stock

What arrives with an offer

  • One firm price for one grade, tonnage, destination and Incoterm
  • Stated validity period for the price
  • Technical data sheet with typical and guaranteed values
  • COA format and the full export document set

Send these seven items and a firm quotation can be issued the same working day. Send fewer, and the answer is a broad range, which helps nobody.

Product and gradePE wax flake, pastille, powder or oxidized PE wax — and the grade reference if you already have one.
Required specificationDrop point, viscosity at 140 °C, density, penetration, and acid value if the grade is oxidized. A competitor's TDS is a perfectly good way to state this.
QuantityTonnage per shipment (1×20ft FCL, 1×40ft FCL, or LCL) and expected annual volume. Volume changes the number, so state both.
Destination portThe named discharge port, plus the final inland destination if you want a door-to-door comparison.
Preferred IncotermFCA, CFR, CIF or CPT. If you are unsure, state what you want the number to include and we will suggest the term.

Polyethylene wax pricing glossary

The eight terms that decide where inside a band a specific quotation lands.

Drop point
The temperature at which the wax becomes fluid enough to drip under standard test conditions. It sets the processing window and is one of the first parameters a quotation is written against.
Viscosity at 140 °C
Kinematic viscosity in mm²/s at 140 °C. Most application specifications are written around this value, because it predicts flow and lubrication behaviour in the melt.
Acid value
Milligrams of potassium hydroxide needed to neutralise one gram of wax (mg KOH/g). It quantifies the degree of oxidation and is the defining commercial parameter of oxidized PE wax.
Penetration
Needle penetration at 25 °C in units of 0.1 mm — a hardness measure. Lower penetration means a harder wax.
D50 particle size
The median particle diameter of a micronised powder: half the particles are smaller, half larger. A finer or tighter D50 needs more milling and classification, which is why powder prices above flake.
FCA (Free Carrier)
The Incoterms 2020 rule under which the seller delivers to a carrier at a named place. An FCA price covers the product to that loading point and excludes freight, insurance and destination charges.
MOQ and FCL
Minimum order quantity, normally expressed in full container loads. One 20ft FCL of bagged PE wax is approximately 18 MT; a 40ft FCL is approximately 25 MT.
TDS and COA
The technical data sheet states the typical and guaranteed values of a grade. The certificate of analysis states the measured values of the specific batch shipped.

Common questions

Polyethylene wax price FAQ

What buyers, importers and search engines ask most about PE wax pricing, grades, forms and B2B quotations.

As of , indicative FCA export levels run $990 – $1,100 per MT for standard PE wax flake and $2,300 – $2,600 per MT for oxidized PE wax. There is no single global price: PE wax is quoted per metric ton against a defined specification, and the number moves with grade, molecular weight, drop point, viscosity, acid value, origin, volume, packing, destination and Incoterm. For CFR, CIF, CPT or other Incoterms, please contact our sales team.

Divide the per-ton price by 1,000. At $990 – $1,100 per MT FCA, PE wax flake works out at roughly $0.99 – $1.10 per kilogram, or $24.75 – $27.50 per 25 kg bag. Export business is priced per ton, so per-kg figures are a conversion, not a separate offer.

A 20ft FCL holds approximately 18 MT of PE wax in 25 kg bags. At $990 – $1,100 per MT FCA that container is worth roughly $17,820 – $19,800 for standard flake, and roughly $41,400 – $46,800 for oxidized PE wax. On FCA terms, freight, insurance, duty and destination handling are additional.

FCA (Free Carrier) covers the product cost up to the named place, typically our warehouse or loading point. CFR (Cost and Freight) includes ocean freight to your destination port. CIF adds marine insurance. CPT includes carriage to a named destination. For exact CFR, CIF or CPT quotations, contact our sales team with your destination port.

Crude oil and ethylene feedstock cost; production route; molecular weight, drop point, viscosity, density, purity and colour; acid value for oxidized grades; physical form and any micronising step; production origin; order volume; packing; freight; destination; and Incoterm. There is no fixed formula — the weighting shifts with the grade.

Export business is normally quoted from one full container load — 1×20ft FCL (approx. 18 MT) in 25 kg bags. Smaller LCL trial quantities can be arranged but price higher per ton, because part-load freight, handling and documentation are spread over less tonnage. Multi-container and contracted annual volume price at the lower end of the band.

Shipment is by 20ft or 40ft FCL, or LCL for trial orders, from loading ports in the UAE and Türkiye. Payment is normally T/T (telegraphic transfer) or irrevocable L/C at sight, subject to order volume and buyer credit assessment. Incoterms offered are FCA, CFR, CIF and CPT.

Every shipment includes a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and a batch-specific certificate of analysis. SGS or equivalent third-party inspection can be arranged at the loading port on request.

The chemistry can be identical — the difference is particle geometry and the processing behind it. Flake is cast and broken sheet, the cheapest form to produce, suited to melt dosing. Powder is ground or micronised to a controlled particle size, which costs an extra step and normally prices higher, but disperses without melting — exactly what inks, paints and powder coatings need.

Polyethylene wax solidified into uniform pastilles on a pastillation belt. It is the same wax as the flake version of that grade, but free-flowing, low-dust and dimensionally consistent — which is what automatic gravimetric dosing and closed conveying systems require.

Polyethylene wax treated under controlled oxidation so that polar carboxyl and hydroxyl groups are introduced into the chain. Unlike standard non-polar PE wax, it is emulsifiable in water and compatible with polar resins such as PVC and EVA. It is specified by acid value in mg KOH/g alongside drop point, viscosity and penetration.

Oxidation is an extra controlled process step after the base wax exists, and it must hit a narrow acid value window while holding drop point, viscosity and penetration. Longer cycle times, tighter analytical control and a genuine off-specification risk are what create the premium — roughly 2.3 times the standard flake level. It is a processing and quality-assurance cost, not a marketing one.

Each offer carries its own validity period, stated on the quotation. Because PE wax tracks crude oil, ethylene and ocean freight, validity is normally short for spot business and longer for contracted annual volume. Re-confirm before opening a Letter of Credit.
